Artist Statement

Hi, I'm Mishell Carcamo. I am starting SBCC this coming fall. I am a proud Latina and my culture is very important to me. For me the Latinx culture is one that is passed down from generation to generation with the newer ones adding to it. I feel like our culture in a way is also keeping our ancestors alive. My art helps me express what I feel. I'm the kind of person that feels comfortable writing my feelings than talking about them. And I do it in a way that hopefully others can relate to me and my struggles. I want my poems to help young latinx peeps know that they are not alone in the struggle.
